Do you handle criticism well?

  • Yes, I’ve got tough skin
  • I do, as long as it’s constructive
  • No, I hate being criticized for anything

Much depends on how you perceive criticism in your address. In particular, if you do not respond adequately to criticism, you can spoil relationships with bosses and colleagues at work, which, in turn, can affect career growth. Not paying attention to the remarks, a person does not pay attention to own mistakes and often repeats them. Not for nothing they say that the onlooker sees most of the game.

Therefore constructive criticism is quite useful. If you want to grow and improve, then you should treat criticism with due attention. The main thing – all that is right is worth admitting. Those who remain calm and adequately perceive criticism can listen to the opinions of others and seek optimal behavior patterns.

And another way around, those who do not know how to respond to criticism correctly and don’t understand its true meaning, take what is said close to the heart and often despair or begin to get angry. Of course, criticism, when it is over the top, acts just like medicine, failing to reach its goal if the dose is too large.

Some people believe that if the criticism is heard from the boss, then they will have to keep silent, creaking their teeth, but if it comes from a colleague, then there is no reason to keep the voice down, especially if the remarks are unfair. But if a criticism is deserved, then one has to think over what is said and draw a conclusion, however difficult it may be.

So, how do you handle criticism?
