The administration of US President D. Trump discusses the possible withdrawal of the country from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which was concluded back in the days of the USSR. In modern conditions, the Treaty continued to operate in relations with Russia. According to the paper, both sides are prohibited from testing and deploying ground-based winged and ballistic missiles of intermediate (from 1,000 to 5,500 kilometers) and small (from 500 to 1,000 kilometers) range. Congressman and Head of the Nuclear Weapons Committee, Mike Rogers, said that the US would be irresponsible to continue to comply with the Treaty when one of the participants had long since shunned it. At the same time, according to some members of the US Presidential Administration, such a move could provoke a full-fledged arms race. In turn, representatives of the Russian Federation related to defense and security warned that in case of the US withdrawal from the said Treaty, Russia would “draw conclusions”. In particular, if this option would be used for a new build-up of armaments or missiles in Europe, Moscow will take appropriate measures.
So, how do you feel about the US intention to withdraw from the INF Treaty?
